The ABC's of skincare: A skincare starter guide for everyone

In the current market of hyperconsumerism, where every product claims to immediately fix your skin, it is importance to recognize the value of simplicity. Skincare does not have to be complicated at all, a few well-chosen products will not only help you save time and money, but also reduce your environmental footprint by consuming less. We need to understand what our skin needs and focus on products that are gentle and effective and will directly benefit your skin health.

Heres a lazy starter guide for you that is easy to follow and less likely to be abandoned.

1. Pick the right cleanser

Cleansing is essential for removing dirt, oil, and impurities that accumulate on your skin throughout the day. Use a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser suitable for your skin type.

2. Moisturize

Moisturizing is important for keeping your skin hydrated and balanced. Choose a moisturizer formulated for your skin type—whether it's a lightweight formula for oily skin or a rich cream for dry skin. Apply your moisturizer directly after cleansing to lock in moisture and keep your skin soft and supple.

3. Protect with Sunscreen

Sunscreen is your skin's best defense against UV damage, premature aging, and skin cancer. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every morning, regardless of the weather. Reapply every two hours if you're spending most of your time outdoors.

Sticking to a simple skincare routine is essential for maintaining healthy, balanced skin in the long term. By minimizing the number of products and steps in your routine, you reduce the risk of overwhelming your skin with unnecessary ingredients and potential irritants, therefore minimizing the likelihood of  reactions or breakouts. A simple routine also maintains consistency, making it easier to establish healthy habits and ensure that you provide your skin with the essential care it needs day in and day out.
