Our Story
Before Asili was founded, my busy lifestyle took a toll on my skin health. I had all sorts of skin-issues; breakouts, fungal acne, dry and very sensitized skin. I descended into a rabbit hole of scheduling countless derm appointments, trying a ton of skincare products and extensively researching on anything that could possibly help.
This is where being a chemist really came through, I started learning about skincare ingredients and found that skincare products sitting on my shelf had potential irritants, and fillers that could exacerbate my skin health.
I moved on to study the science behind formulating skincare that is simple, clean & effective. This is when I discovered the power of natural skincare backed by science. It all started in my kitchen while experimenting with botanical ingredients to heal my sensitive skin. When I was expecting, I ditched all my other skincare for one natural concoction I had created and that eliminated most of my skincare concerns. This is how our all-in-one star product, rosehip + jojoba dew drops was born.
Asili, skincare rooted in science and nature
Asili ( Us-seel-lee) is the swahili word for nature, a name that is deeply rooted in its cultural heritage. This name was chosen to represent my tanzanian culture, where I was raised. We want to embrace the simplicity of using natural ingredients in our skincare products and create a brand that would reflect this philosophy.
Our mission
Asili envisions a future where natural skincare is the norm, we believe that the purest and most effective skincare solutions can be found in nature. We are conscious about what we add into our formulations so we will not use any harmful chemicals and fillers that will irritate your skin, only raw and active ingredients that are naturally effective and will improve your overall skin health. Come along with us on our journey as we redefine skincare, one natural ingredient at a time
Most importantly, giving back to those in need is what motivates us. We hope to positively impact as many peoples lives as possible. We partnered with SMILE Canada at our first pop-up event and aim to extend this outreach to a broader audience. A portion of our proceeds from every purchase will be dedicated to supporting various non-profit organizations.
